The Washington DC metropolitan area is one of, if not the most dynamic and sophisticated new home real estate markets in the nation, perhaps even the world! The area’s top 10 homebuilders account for approximately 50% of the region’s new home sales. All are publically traded corporations often with national presence.

Builder Magazine’s “The Builder 100” offers new home buyers a snapshot of the power of the America’s top 200 home building corporations, including: number of homes built per year, locations served, housing types, gross revenues and closing volume.

Washington Metro’s Biggest Builders is a list of the Top 10 residential building corporations serving the Greater Washington DC metropolitan area. The largest homebuilder in Maryland and Virginia is NVR, also known as NV Homes and Ryan Homes. The JD Power and Associates Customer Satisfaction Survey evaluates the strengths of these builders.

Note: The Washington area is defined as the District, Calvert, Frederick, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland and Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania and Stafford counties plus Alexandria and other independent cities surrounded by those counties, in Virginia.
